I honestly confess that I have never seen assault of violence that numbs my senses in any other film as portrayed in this one.
The violence occurred in 60’s, 70’s & 80’s Brazil was really gruesome & the movie is the best & true art of its portrayal. Apart of all the characters including the boy who is the only hope among blood sucking guns gang who turned photographer, it’s the setting & place which itself is the significant character of the story. I can’t stop praising 3 guys who have done iconoclast task - Director Fernando Meirelles for his brilliance direction, Razor sharp cinematography which truly none to its equal by Cesar Charlone & brilliant editing by Daniel Rezende. In certain scenes it looks like that the director is heavily influenced by Martin Scorsese & one can visualize various brilliant techniques of his legendary films like Taxi Driver, Raging Bull & Goodfellas looming over this film. It’s one of the best film of this decade & is the most brilliant as it combines directorial and editorial & cinematographically brilliance with a story that is almost second to none in recent times.
Highly recommended.
