DR. ZHIVAGO (1965)

Based on the classic Russian novel of the same name written by Boris Pasternak, its glorious tale of love in the time of Russian Revolution. The movie depicts the epic film making of Director David Lean, documenting fact & imagination in apt amount side by side.
I must say that it’s Julie Christie as Lara, who bowled me over all other characters in the film. It’s indeed a role of lifetime for her. She looks so gorgeous that we stop thinking that why being married sound man Dr. Zhivago (Omar Sharif) fell in love with her. Anyone can fall in love with such an irresistible beauty. The pace of the movie is very slow & its 3 hour plus long film, so its test of your tolerance to digest this epic. Lean successfully portrayed human relations in the time of crisis when common men of the Russia were struggling with their basics for survival. Technically movie was lame & an average epic in scale considering the time of its making but if you like to watch ‘Gone with the wind’ kind of stuff you will feel content with it.
Watch if you like old classical romantic epics…
